I stopped.
I stopped believing that I could carry on smiling and laughing without a care in the world.
Its 1899, December 31st, and it is tonight I shall leave this town without a trace and never see my family again. I'd packed my bags, shined my shoes and set off down the icy road. Its time for me to see the world a little a bigger and now I shall believe that the sky is the limit.
I cross the road and step on to the kerbside, I carry on out of the town's boarder and notice a small white fox laying at the side of the riverbed. I walk towards the shivering creature and wrap it in my scarf, I walk a little forward towards the nearest wall and lay it out. It stands majestically for a small being and bows its head in a thankful manner and walks away.
That was the first time I'd seen a white fox in my life and I guess it shall be the last, I continue walking forwards. It's becoming dark really quickly so I quicken my pace to avoid staying out for too long. I come across a mysterious man sat on a bench, wearing a light beige suit and long white hair. I slow down to see him lift his head, and his eyes meet mine. It felt as if he was looking straight at my soul, I shivered but as I continued walking i felt as if I was being drawn towards him. I freeze, right before him, standing there keeping eye contact. He grabbed my hand, it may have been an unlawful action but I felt my heart skip a beat.
He tips of his hat and introduces himself "I am John Silver and you are my savior I shall forever be grateful" He kisses my knuckles and stands." I notice you need a place to stay and I guess you'll be looking for a dream to pursue?" Stunned, I nod my head and follow his lead to a nearby cabin. He stops to unlock the door and pulls me inside.
The room has no description, its as plain as vanilla but all the more enticing when he's in it. He drops his coat and hat on the chair and sits on the floor beside the fireplace he pats beside him and i obediently sit down.
"Why am I your savior " I timidly question the graceful man sat beside me. He looks at me and says in a whisper "You didn't even know who i was, but you helped me immediately" I blink confused by his answer but i don't question further. I lay down, warmed by the fire, I look up to find him staring at me " I should tell you something important about dreams, they can be obtained but then you shall have nothing else to do, take life as an dream and float along with the laughter and merriment and you should live a fulfilled life." In awe I stare back at him, he leans in and kisses me "Another important thing is that I love you." I feel my eyelids becoming heavier and i drop asleep.
I wake up, its the 1st January 1900, the light shines through the windows. I sit up and stretch to find white fur around me and a piece of paper beside me. I read it and i lay back down and stare up at the ceiling.
'Contradict life and live out your fantasies and dreams! The turn of the century has been great with you. I love you'
If he had truly loved me he would tell me answers to the questions swirling round my head. Who was he?, What was he?, Why is there white fur and why did he leave without a trace leaving the cabin empty?
